Happy birthday Samantha! This is only the first 2 minutes of her first birthday cake. There wasn't much to see... she was pretty clean the whole time!

Samantha took her first two steps on Saturday, September 17th. Over the last couple of weeks she's been taking a few more tentative steps. Last night Matt and I sat across from each other in her bedroom and she walked from one person to the other, over and over again (with a fall or two in between!). She was so proud of herself every time she reached the other person that she would giggle and fall down into our laps. The "walking game" went on for more than 10 minutes! She definitely hasn't replaced crawling with walking yet, but she's getting better! Here's what we've been able to catch on video so far (not much)...

The dogs are teaching Sammy how to beg for Cheerios... Look who got one! :)

So these are really late... they were taken on July 30th, so she was really 9 1/2 months. Better late than never! Here's how the photo shoots go now... she doesn't really sit still anymore. :)

Samantha and Miles had a big day on Friday, July 29th. There was a huge baby race at school and Sammy and Miles were the stars! The bigger kids at school lined up and made signs to help cheer them on. The official results aren't clear. Samantha obviously thought she had finished the race when she got to the desired toy at the finish line... but I guess Miles was the first to actually cross the line. Better luck next time, Sammy!

My new way of getting around! Snacks at the big kids' table! All this pool time is making me thirsty!
